COURSE TITLE: AP American Government & Politics
PREREQUISITES: World History B or AP European History
LENGTH: 3 Trimesters
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In this program students will learn the principles and processes of government in general, and the U.S. (Federal) government in particular. The American political and economic systems and the people and institutions that facilitate those systems, are to be the broad focus of this course. This will be accomplished through intense reading, discussion, participation in simulations and decision making models along with writing. Intense focus will be on the Constitution, the Presidency, the Congress, the Courts, and the political and policy making process as it is used by the leaders in the Federal Government. This course is designed for college-bound students and the course content and structure is designed to enable students to attain college credit for their efforts through the Advanced Placement American Government Exam which is offered in May.
